With heavy hearts, loved ones share that Barbara Cassese passed away on the morning of December 22, 2025. Barb was deeply loved, and her loss is felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

As friends of Barb, we are coming together to support the Cassese family during this difficult time. The family has chosen to hold an intimate memorial service in Florida, where Barb passed away and where her parents reside. Funds raised will help cover memorial expenses and travel costs so the entire family can be together to honor Barb’s life. We ask for continued prayers and comfort for her parents, siblings, friends, and the many communities she touched with her presence.

Barb had a genuine love for reading, the arts, and traveling the world. She treasured time spent with family and joyfully embraced her role as the “rich auntie,” showering her nieces and nephews with love. Her one-of-a-kind humor, infectious laugh, and warm smile could brighten any room.

From a young age, Barb was ambitious, driven, and deeply involved. She was active in countless student organizations, including student government, track, cross country, yearbook, band, and Key Club—always showing up with passion, leadership, and heart.

Barbara attended the University of Pittsburgh and later earned her master’s degree from the OHSU–PSU School of Public Health. She dedicated her studies and professional career to public health research and communications, driven by a deep commitment to addressing systemic inequities in healthcare. Barb was especially passionate about amplifying the voices of marginalized communities, skillfully blending empathy and science to create meaningful, lasting change.
