I gave birth to my baby boy November 25th 2025 in liberal Kansas. As he arrived he stopped breathing and the nurses gave him cpr, thank god after 2 mins they were able to get my son back. The doctor did a chest xray on my son and the results showed an enlarged heart.. after 24 hours of my son having abnormal breathing they decided to transfer him to Wichita.. Wichita told them to send my son to Kansas City because it was more complex than we expected. We arrived at Children mercy in Kansas City Missouri on November 26th, they did another xray which turned into needing a mri done on his brain.. as the results came back we found out our baby had Vein of Galen malformation and over 30+ feeder veins going into it. We were told our baby needed brain surgery but probably wouldn’t survive it.. At 3 days old my baby needed surgery , we didn’t give up we told them to go on with the surgery and thanks of God our baby survived the surgery, they were able to close 2 out of the 30+ feeder veins. He was transferred to KU in Kansas City Kansas for the surgery. After a few days he started taking a bad turn again.. December 3rd 8 days old he needed to undergo another brain surgery. We were told he wouldn’t survive, he pulled through the surgery amazingly and they closed another 2 feeder veins. 3 days post recovery he developed a blood clot in his leg and he started having seizures.. We were fighting the blood clot and seizures with multiple of medicines. After a week of non stop seizures and the medicine not working they told me my baby wouldn’t survive much longer and they recommended comfort care.. All of Xander doctors sat us down in a conference and just explained the situation and how bad my son was getting.. We didn’t give up we called multiple of doctors including one in Iowa and in Boston.. we were told his brain and heart has taken a bad hit and couldn’t be reversed.. they told us they wouldn’t proceed with any surgery and also suggested we put him on comfort care.. well within those 2 days after the conference, they couldn’t get the seizures under control and his heart and brain were to swollen that all his medication weren’t going to the places we needed them to go , he was having seizures every 5 to 10 minutes and it put us in a tough spot. We didn’t want to let our baby boy go, but we didn’t want him to suffer and go through this pain anymore. They gave us the choice to either keep him hooked up to all the medicine and the breathing tube or remove everything and let life take course , well he gradually got worse. We decided to take all the medicine off and the breathing tube out and let God decide when he wants my baby boy , Xander took his last breath at 7:25pm on December 15th , now we have to think about funeral cost.. plus the transportation back to liberal.. plus the cremation. During this time my husband was missing work but his boss told him it was okay and not to come back to work until his son was okay .. he ended up going back to liberal in the middle of all of this and went back to work , well the first day he was back they laid him off , so with being out of town for so long, not being able to run our business and not being able to go to work we are short on money . Now we’re trying to figure out how to pay for my baby boys funeral and cremation, we understand it is around the holidays so we understand if you can’t donate but if you can simply share, it would be much appreciated
