At the age of 6, my niece Arlette was diagnosed with spinocerebellar ataxia. She was a healthy and beautiful little girl with so much personality, and after the diagnosis, she rapidly declined-unable to walk, talk, and eat on her own. This devastating disease ultimately took her life on December 4, 2025, at just 8 years old. Our hearts are completely broken. My sister put her life on hold to care for her daughter, and she did it so gracefully and with so much love. Watching Arlette's journey was both heartbreaking and inspiring, and the love she received from her family was unwavering every step of the way.

As we grieve the loss of Arlette, we are also faced with the unexpected costs of her funeral and the challenges that come with saying goodbye to someone so young and precious.
