Apollo has been struggling with autoimmune issues for several years now. It has recently come to a head where his mouth has become completely impacted. This is because of an overreaction in his immune system that is now attacking the bacteria in his mouth. He can no longer eat dry foods and even has some struggles with wet food on occasion. He’s also had a great deal of issues grooming himself due to the pain his mouth has been causing him.
We've been told that our only options at this point are to drastically change his life by removing all his teeth or euthanize him to make sure he doesn’t continue to live in pain.
We love our sweet boy and aren’t ready to let him go, but we also know that with that love comes difficult decisions. Removing all of his teeth would be selfish of us at this point, and as hard as it is to say goodbye to the little guy I've called my best friend since I was 13 years old, we know it’s time. This is not a decision I have made lightly, knowing how much it costs and how much pain he would be in if I let him continue living with this disease.
