Anne Randolph Bland, born July 31, 1952, passed away on January 23, 2026, at the age of 73. Anne was a long-time member of her community and a familiar presence to many. She remained closely involved in the lives of her daughters and grandchildren, spending time with them regularly and offering support in practical, dependable ways. Being part of her grandchildren’s day-to-day lives was important to her, and she stayed connected to them as they grew.
Anne also gave her time as a volunteer in the community of Emmitsburg. She helped organize and run local events, and enjoyed contributing to activities that brought people together. These events were a meaningful part of her routine and her connection to those around her. She valued social connection and was a regular at Emmitsburg establishments where she enjoyed sharing a drink, catching up with friends, and taking part in raffles and holders. These simple traditions were part of how she stayed engaged with her community.
Anne is survived by her daughters, Nicole DeMambro and Sarah Bland, and by her grandchildren -- Christopher, Thomas, Cadence, Shane, and Weston. She will be remembered by many for her involvement in the lives of those around her and for her steady presence within her family and community. Arrangements will be announced at a later date.
Anne lived off social security and had limited resources, but she always gave what she could to her grandchildren, even when things were tight. With her passing, her daughters are now facing funeral and end-of-life expenses that will be hard to cover without help.
Any funds raised will first go toward funeral and end-of-life costs, so her daughters do not have to shoulder debt to put their mother to rest in a meaningful way. Any remaining funds will be split between the Catoctin Pregnancy Center, in gratitude for their support over the decades, and to help ensure Anne's grandchildren can continue to participate in the activities that bring them so much joy.
The family is grateful for any support that can be offered to help honor Anne's memory and support the causes and grandchildren she cared about most.
