My name is My Ha and I am the aunt of Angela Ha. Yesterday morning at 7am in Colorado my family learned of the unfathomable loss of Angela in Melbourne Australia. Angela Ha was a rock climber doing what she loved to do when she had a fall near Mount Arapiles in western Victoria Australia on April 26, 2026. She was transported by air ambulance to the Alfred Hospital in critical condition with upper – body injuries, after fighting to survive overnight, she died.
Angela was only 24 years old and loved living and searching for new experiences. She was the oldest of four children and the daughter of two first generation Australians, both her mother and father having emigrated from Vietnam to Sydney. She had studied to be an architect, but on completing that decided she wanted to pursue her passion for rock climbing before settling down. She had already climbed in many different parts of Australia and had gone back to her parents’ roots to visit family in Vietnam and climb there as well as climb in other parts of Southeast Asia. This year she had decided to change her career trajectory and decided that she was going to return to school and earn a Doctorate degree in physio therapy at the University of Sydney, so she could help injured rock climbers and others. However, first she wanted to go on a 10-day climbing trip to the popular climbing site of Organ Pipes, and it was there her tragic accident occurred.
Angela leaves behind her two younger sisters, her younger brother who has autism and her parents. They are devastated by this loss and we hope that money raised here can help my brother’s family pay for transferring Angela from Melbourne to Sydney for her funeral services, burial costs, and memorial arrangements in Sydney, Australia.
