Help Us Lay Alysia to Rest

Our hearts are broken as we share the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and mother of two, Alysia, at just 37 years old.

Alysia courageously battled stage 4 breast cancer that had spread to her brain and spinal cord. In September, she underwent brain surgery to remove one of three tumors, and for a time, we saw encouraging signs of improvement and hope for more time.

Tragically, Alysia later lost function in her lower extremities and was hospitalized the day after Thanksgiving. While hospitalized, she suffered a hospital-acquired pressure injury that became severely infected. Due to inadequate wound care, the infection worsened rapidly, and Alysia became extremely septic and critically ill.

Despite multiple efforts to treat the infection, Alysia was re-admitted in septic shock. This devastating complication halted any further chemotherapy that could have extended her life. After fighting so hard for so long, Alysia passed away on January 28, still battling a severe infection.

Our family is now facing the unimaginable—laying our daughter to rest. Alongside the overwhelming grief, we are burdened with unexpected funeral and burial expenses.
