Honoring Althea: A Gift of Time for Families
Donation protected
October 4th, 2023, is a day that we will never forget. This day is the anniversary that our daughter, Althea, was stillborn. I went into the hospital in labor, so excited to meet her, only to learn that she was already gone.
Time... the thing us parents wish there was more of with our children. Watching them grow, creating joyful memories, exchanging smiles. Or in some cases, trying to grasp what little time you have with your newborn baby, clinging to every minute before her body starts to decompose. We wish we were able to have just one more hour with our daughter Althea before we couldn't recognize her anymore.
In Althea's honor, we wanted to start this small yet meaningful fundraiser to donate a Cuddle Cot to Providence St. Mary Hospital. It is our hope that the next parents that have to endure the worst day of their lives get to have that "one more hour" with their baby.
What is a Cuddle Cot?
A portable cooling device that allows families to spend more time with a baby after loss. It's designed to preserve the body of a deceased baby so that parents can bond with them, take pictures, and create memories. These are the things that parents will hold close as they work through their grief for the rest of their lives.
