On March 24th, 2025, our Sasha suddenly passed away in her Olathe, Kansas home, tragically leaving behind her loving mother Marina, stepfather Alex, and countless friends. The grief and shock are still fresh for us all. We are left with a void that will never be filled.
Sasha was born June 26th, 1986, in Melitopol, Ukraine. She and her mother left for Germany, eventually moving to the United States in 1996. Growing up, she moved from North Carolina to Vermont, then to New Jersey, finally graduating from high school in California. She went on to further her education at the Savannah College of Art & Design, graduating with her BFA in Illustration and Graphic Design. She would then go on to manage several art galleries in her beloved Savannah, Georgia.
In the winter of 2012, she relocated to Kansas City to be closer to family and start a new career. She found her true passion after being hired as a Senior Web Content Manager for Data Source/Supply Logic. She was quickly promoted to Business Analyst and continued to work there for 12 years.
Sasha loved Kansas City. She easily made many wonderful friends during the 15 years she spent there, enjoying live music, art museums, and all the fantastic restaurants Kansas City has to offer. After buying a beautiful home in Olathe, Kansas, she quickly found how much she enjoyed suburban life, making friends with all her neighbors.
She was a devoted daughter, speaking with her mother on almost a daily basis. They would chat about everything from food to clothes, laughing together as the best of friends. For many years, it was just the two of them, navigating the world, deepening their bond as mother and daughter. They were two sides of the same coin.
Sasha loved movies. From Moonstruck and The Bird Cage to Overboard and O' Brother Where Art Thou? One of her all-time favorites was Alice in Wonderland, where she dreamed of "a world of her own."
She loved music, traveling, cooking, gardening, and spending quality time with her beloved pets, Pete, Rupert, and Sushi in the comfort of her home and sunning on her back porch.
Sasha was beautiful, intelligent, thoughtful, and caring. A loving daughter. A true friend. She always stood up for what she believed in and never backed down. She was a fighter… strong and determined.
Her laugh, infectious smile, bright personality, and huge heart made the world a better place for everyone she loved.
She is survived by her mother Marina, stepfather Alex, Aunt Antje, Uncle Eduard, Cousins Felix, and Evgenij and loving ex-husband, Andrew Black.
We love you, Sasha.
We have created this page to help with funeral arrangements, with every dollar going to ensure she can be laid to rest in California close to her mother Marina, and where she can continue to shine in the sun.
Thank you all for your support, kindness, and generosity.
