Honoring Albert Barrera: Support His Legacy

The Barrera Family is touched by the outpouring of love it has received from the community of Shafter for our father, Albert Barrera. As many of you know Big Al, Coach Albert, ascended the stairway to Heaven on August 6th, 2025. And while his presence will be missed on this Earth, we know he went home to be with the Lord in paradise - and in that knowledge, we find peace. In this time of great loss, your love and support has lifted our spirits and provided healing in more ways than one.

However, many of you have asked how you may continue to help through donations. So, we’ve created this GoFundMe for those who wish to contribute as a way of honoring Albert’s life. There is absolutely no obligation to give and we appreciate any and all contributions. Your love, presence, and prayers mean the world to us.

Any donations received will go towards funeral and memorial costs, helping us give Albert the celebration of life he deserves. Any remaining proceeds will be used to establish the Albert Barrera Foundation which seeks to help fund underserved athletes by giving them the opportunity to play sports without having to worry about registration fees. Reflecting that legacy of giving back that our father maintained throughout his life.

Albert was a coach, mentor, and friend to so many in the Shafter community. He believed in giving to others, and we hope this gathering will showcase the love and kindness he shared with all of us.
