Help with Alan Garza’s Medical Bills & End of Life Expenses
Donation protected
On March 30th, South Austin lost one of its most vibrant and compassionate residents. Alan Joseph Garza passed away peacefully,
surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous ten-month battle with stage four esophageal cancer.
A fourth-generation Austinite, Alan’s roots ran deep in Bouldin Creek and its surrounding neighborhoods. More than just a resident, he was a cornerstone of the community. As a fixture at the Pink House, he provided unwavering support and hope to countless people on their recovery journeys. His kindness, empathy, and dedication touched innumerable lives, making his passing an immeasurable loss to South Austin’s recovery community.
But Alan’s impact reached far beyond recovery. He was a friend, a loving son, a devoted husband, and a cherished brother. He never met a stranger—only friends he hadn’t yet made. His warmth, humor, and steadfast spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
This GoFundMe has been created to help Alan’s family with his extensive medical bills and end-of-life expenses. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will be deeply appreciated and will help honor his memory and legacy. Please share this campaign with your networks and help us support his family during this heartbreaking time.
We invite you to honor his memory in a way that reflects the kindness he embodied—by being generous to a stranger, sharing a laugh, or reaching out to someone in need. Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3 from 6pm - 9pm at The High Road on Dawson.
