I don’t even know how to write this, because Abby is someone we are supposed to still be talking about in the present tense.

On October 4, 2026, we unexpectedly lost my little sister, Abigail “Abby” Tinoco, in a car accident. She was only 19 years old. At 9:08 that night, we received a collision alert from her phone. We later learned that she had passed away at the scene. Our lives changed forever that night.

If you knew Abby, you knew she was always doing something. She was this tiny little human being, but oh my, was she determined. If she wanted something, she worked until she got it. It honestly felt like she never got tired.

She graduated from Downey High School as salutatorian, ran track and cross country, and worked so hard to get into UCLA. She was in her second year there pursuing her dream of going into law. She was also the youth president at our church and her faith was a huge part of who she was. These past two months, on top of UCLA, she was completing a CNA program every weekend. This was supposed to be her last weekend. She was almost done.

But none of those accomplishments can really explain who Abby was to me.

She was my little sister. She was my rock  and made us laugh all the time. She came home from UCLA every weekend. She helped me more than she probably ever knew, especially after I became a mom. My daughter, Alaia, adored her. Abby was basically her second mom, and “Abby” was one of my baby’s very first words.

There was supposed to be more time. More weekends home. More laughing. More church together. More memories with Alaia. More normal days with my little sister.

She was supposed to come home.

Instead, our family is now facing something we never imagined planning a funeral and burial for Abby at only 19 years old.

We created this GoFundMe to help our family cover Abby’s funeral, burial, memorial, and other unexpected expenses that come with losing someone so suddenly. We want to give her the beautiful goodbye she deserves and allow our family the time to grieve this unimaginable loss.

If you are able to donate, no amount is too small and we are beyond grateful. If you aren’t able to donate, sharing this means just as much. Most importantly, please keep our family in your prayers. We love God deeply, and right now we are holding onto Him through a pain we don’t understand.

Abby may have been this tiny little person, but she filled so much of our lives.

We love you so much, Abby. I hope you always knew that.
