We are heartbroken to share the sudden passing of Barry Wallace — a true fighter, a devoted husband, and an incredible father to his infant son, Finley. Barry overcame unimaginable odds from the day he was born, inspiring everyone who knew him. Today, we ask for your support to honor his life and help care for the family he loved so deeply.

On March 24, 1988, Barry Wallace entered the world already in the fight of his life — a fight he would embrace with extraordinary courage every single day.

Barry was born with hypoplastic right heart syndrome, an incredibly rare condition affecting only a handful of children each year. His earliest days were filled with uncertainty and heartbreak. On the fifth day of his life, doctors urged our family to call everyone we knew; they did not believe he would survive the day. Yet two days later, at just one week old, Barry underwent his first open-heart surgery — an experimental procedure at a time when infant heart transplants were not yet possible.

Barry defied the odds again and again. His survival was so extraordinary that doctors at Toronto Children’s Hospital closely followed his progress, recognizing what a true medical miracle he was.

Over the course of his life, Barry faced six open-heart surgeries and countless medical procedures. Yet through it all, he woke up every morning with a smile on his face. He never let sadness, fear, or limitation define him. Even as a child, when he was often left out of activities like sports, Barry’s spirit remained unbreakable. His perseverance and optimism inspired everyone blessed to know him.

Barry spent his life fighting not just for more time, but for the life he dreamed of building. Recently, he had been in the process of preparing to be placed on the heart transplant list, filled with hope for a new beginning.

Tragically, just as that hope was within reach, Barry passed away suddenly while the family was out to dinner.

Barry’s legacy lives on through his beautiful wife, Amanda, and their beloved son, Finley — the greatest joys of his life.
