We are coming together to support our dear friend Dina and her family as they walk through the heartbreaking loss of her beloved father, Vidal O. Valdez (2/28/1937 – 4/18/2026).
To know Dina is to know joy, warmth, and love that fills a room with a beautiful light that came from the incredible man who raised her.
Dina often shared that growing up, she had one standard of love: her dad. He was constant, expressive, and unforgettable, the kind of man who loved his family fiercely and without condition. Mr. Valdez, showed Dina what love was, and now, that same love lives on through her as a mother to her own daughters. In all that he did, Dina plans on honoring her father by continuing traditions with her girls, passing down the same love her father so beautifully gave to her.
Dina recently shared, “May I always try to be as good a mommy as you were my daddy.” That is the legacy he leaves behind: a legacy of deep, unconditional, and joyful love. As Dina navigates this unimaginable loss, we want to surround her with that same love and support. We are raising $7,000 to help cover funeral and burial expenses. The burial plot has already been taken care of, but there are still many costs ahead, and we would love to ease that burden for her and her family during this time. If you feel led to give, any amount will make a difference. And if you’re unable to give, we ask that you please share this page and keep Dina, her girls, and her family in your prayers.
Now it’s our turn to love Dina the way she so freely loves others. Thank you for helping us honor a man who showed what love truly looks like.
Gratefully,
Sabrina, Nina, & Annette
Please read a few words shared by Dina:
Saturday, April 18th, 2026, our father went home to meet Jesus. Mr. Vidal Valdez, a proud United States Navy Veteran (Korean War), leaves a devoted wife, children, and grandchildren who adored him beyond words. Although this time of mourning is sad, we rest knowing that he is resting in heaven, enjoying an old Elvis or Patsy Cline song, dancing a tango, or embracing those loved ones who went before him.
If words fail me, allow me to describe the request. This event comes only four months after our family suffered some difficult health events for both parents, in which we were faced with the realization of needing to make necessary preparations for either one or both parents' passing. In preparing for any situation, our Pa (Papi, Papito Lindo, Daddy), in his older age, was unaware of the necessary costs of funeral services and processes for end-of-life care. Through God's grace and provision, we have managed thus far; however, we now humbly request support in laying our father to rest.
We are in the midst of planning his celebration of life through: funeral services, visitation, and gravesite burial without a detailed plan. However, we trust that God will continue to provide, and His plan will be to see his faithful servant laid to rest.
Our request is this: if you are reading this, I pray that if God places it in your heart to support, that you do so in remembrance of the brave sacrifice Vidal Valdez, my father, our father, made for our country. A man who never asked for recognition, did for others without asking, always had a story or a smile to share with anyone he met, always full of life, a gentle or loud laugh/smile that filled any room.
I can rest easy knowing that God is with us, comforts us as we mourn this insurmountable loss, but our hope is knowing that He wipes away every tear from our eyes because our daddy is no longer in pain.
We thank you in advance. You are loved. You are greatly appreciated.
-Daughter, Dina Valdez-Miller
