My beloved father, who proudly worked as a driver for Recology, passed away a few days ago after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He truly loved his job and had hoped to return to work this November — sadly, that day never came...

What many didn’t know is that he had been quietly battling cancer for the past six years... Throughout that time, he continued working and only stepped away twice — the most recent being last November, when the illness progressed and took a greater toll on his body.

Despite everything, he stayed positive and never let the disease define him. He was an easygoing, kind-hearted man who got along with everyone and made a lasting impression on those around him. If you live in San Mateo County, you may have seen him picking up your green compost bin — he took great pride in serving the community.

During his final months with us, my mom became his full-time caregiver. She left her job to care for him around the clock, showing him the same love and strength he always gave to us.

His passing has left a deep absence in our lives My family and I are heartbroken to say goodbye to such a loving father, brother, and uncle.
