Our community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of a young freshman at Norfolk State a university student whose life was taken far too soon in a tragic shooting in Potomac Shores.

He was preparing to return to college this week to continue pursuing his dreams. Those who knew him describe him as a kind soul with a bright future ahead of him, someone who brought light and positivity to the people around him.

His mother is a U.S. military veteran who dedicated years of her life serving our country. She raised a respectful and driven young man who meant the world to her and to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Now she is facing the unimaginable — the loss of her son — along with the sudden financial burden of funeral and memorial expenses. Unfortunately, there was no life insurance in place, and the cost of laying him to rest is overwhelming during this already devastating time.

We are asking our community to come together and help support her during this tragic time so she can focus on healing rather than financial stress.
