Honoring #72 Kawika Pieper
Donation protected
In 2007 our Moanalua Football Family welcomed a freshman named Kawika Pieper and his family Uncle Matt and Auntie Sandy. They were such a huge blessing to our program for the years that Kawika played for us and long after.
Kawika was an amazing young man with a great attitude. He was always positive and full of energy. His smile and joking was contagious and he was a great teammate. From freshman year he grew, progressed and consistently improved each year as a player as he earned a starting position on the Varsity Offensive line. More impressive is how much he grew off the field. He often would share with me his goals and dreams and I loved his enthusiasm for life. After graduating from Moanalua High School he went on to play college football for Florida A&M. After his football playing days, Kawika chased another dream, to be a chef. He got a start working and learning at Alan Wong's in Honolulu. I was filled with joy and so proud of him when he would visit and give me life updates. A number of years ago, Kawika and Uncle Matt said goodbye to Auntie Sandy as she was called to heaven. Sandy was amazing and we were so grateful for her love and support. Shortly after, Kawika and Matt relocated to the mainland and Kawika continued to chase his dreams. He achieved his goal and was working as an Executive Chef.
Kawika recently had some health complications that required surgery. He had a difficult time recovering and spent a significant amount of time in ICU. He battled since Oct 2019. His father Matt, "You would be so proud of him, he fought like a warrior since Oct, til this morning when he gained his wings. We hung his DON'T STOP BELIEVING (Moanalua Football) shirts in his room since the surgery"
I let Matt know that I will always be proud of Kawika, Matt and Sandy did a great job raising a great young man. Our hearts hurt, but I know he is in Heaven cooking for Jesus and Mom. I know he will be playing some ball up there too! Like all of our players, I loved coaching him, he is a blessing in our lives and all of his teammate's lives. We pray for peace and healing for their Ohana.
We started the Go fund me to help Uncle Matt with medical and funeral expenses. If you can, please support the Pieper Ohana.
