In Loving Memory of William Jerome Simmons, Jr
We are heartbroken to share the passing of our dear friend and colleague, William Simmons. His positive attitude, willingness to help others, and ever-present smile brightened our days and made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
William’s Life and Legacy
William Jerome Simmons, Jr., affectionately known as BJ, was born on December 25, 1993, in Augusta, GA to Thomasina Robinson and William Simmons, Sr.
He attended the University of South Carolina Aiken before transferring to the University of South Carolina (USC) to pursue Integrated Information Technology. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree, William relocated to Charlotte, NC, where he continued his education and received a Master of Business Administration from East Carolina University.
Before his passing, William worked as an IT Business Analyst for Coca-Cola Consolidated for just over a year. This role held special meaning for him, as his late grandfather was a devoted fan of Coke drinks.
On June 11, 2023, William married Whitley Shannon. After two years of newlywed bliss, they joyfully discovered they were expecting their first child, a daughter, due in March 2026. William was deeply excited about becoming a father and looked forward to welcoming his baby girl.
God called William home on November 27, 2025, just a month before his thirty-second birthday. His legacy will live on, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

To help cover funeral expenses and provide essential support for Whitley and their baby girl’s arrival, we have launched a GoFundMe campaign. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference and show Whitley she is surrounded by love and community. Please note, all funds raised will go directly to Whitley to assist her and their baby during this difficult time.
Thank you for keeping William, Whitley, and their family in your thoughts and for helping us honor William’s memory by caring for those he loved most.
