Help Us Honor the Legacy of Logan Fink
Dear Friends, Family, and Community,
It is with deep sorrow and love that we share the passing of Logan Fink, a devoted father, grandfather, veteran, educator, and lifelong servant of both God and community. As we navigate this difficult time, we are reaching out for support to help cover the funeral, burial, and probate expenses, so we can give Logan the dignified farewell he truly earned. Services will be July 12 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in McAlpin, FL.
The costs of probate, final arrangements, and funeral services are more than the immediate family can handle at this time. We are seeking to raise $7,500 to help ease this burden and allow us to properly honor Logan’s life and legacy.
If you watch the video above from 2002, you will see the love and commitment he and Sharon shared for their grandchildren and their tireless advocacy for Autism research and support. Their bond was unshakable. Logan and Sharon were married for 48 years, and Logan often credited all of his life’s success to her, saying plainly and with a smile that “Sharon straightened me out.”
Logan’s story began in a log cabin in McAlpin, Florida, where he lived without electricity or plumbing until he was 18. From these modest beginnings, he forged a remarkable life rooted in faith, service, and education.
He proudly served 26 years in the United States military, including two years in Vietnam, and continued his public service as a science professor for over 40 years and a Union County Extension Agent for 10 years. He earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Florida, and went on to teach for decades at Pensacola Junior College, later known as Pensacola State College, where he inspired generations of students.
Logan's heart for youth and agriculture was evident in his lifelong support of FFA and 4-H, and his unwavering faith guided everything he did. He served faithfully as a deacon or elder in several Florida churches:
- Campus Church and First Baptist Church in Pensacola
- University Baptist Church in Gainesville
- Faith Baptist Church in Lake Butler
His community involvement extended well beyond the church walls. Logan held leadership and volunteer roles in many organizations, including:
- President of the Florida Trail Association
- Chairman of the Emerald Coast Utility Authority
- Founding board member of Autism Pensacola
- Founding president of the Gulf Coast Bluegrass Music Association
- President of the Retired National Guard Association of W-Florida
- Active member of the Southwestern Rotary Club of Pensacola
- Distinguished Toastmaster, the highest honor awarded by Toastmasters International
- Member of numerous community chamber boards over the past 50 years
Logan leaves behind a legacy of humility, generosity, and faith. He was a proud grandfather to Allen and Timmy Fink, and a devoted husband and partner to Sharon Fink, who passed away six years ago. We find comfort in knowing they are now reunited.
Every gift—whether financial or the simple act of sharing this fundraiser—makes a meaningful difference. Thank you for your love, support, and prayers during this time.
With heartfelt appreciation,
The Family of Logan Fink
