About the Monument We Are Building

The Joint Veterans Support Committee (JVSC) is proud to lead the creation of the Military Honors Monument, the future centerpiece of the Freedom Memorial Plaza at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

This monument is designed to honor the dedicated men and women—across every branch of the United States Armed Forces—who provide military honors at veterans’ funerals. Their service ensures that every veteran is laid to rest with the dignity and respect they earned.

What the Monument Represents

The monument will feature three life-size bronze figures, carefully sculpted to reflect the solemnity, respect, and tradition of military funeral honors:

A female Next of Kin receiving a folded United States Flag

A U.S. Army Officer, in full dress uniform, presenting the flag

A U.S. Marine Corps bugler, positioned according to official Army Drill & Ceremony regulations

These figures will be placed on two raised pedestals atop a large 40-foot circular foundation of specialty pavers accented with granite bands. A surrounding walkway and Florida-friendly landscaping will complete the site, creating a space of reverence, remembrance, and reflection.

Why This Monument Matters

The Veterans Administration does not fund monuments for National Cemeteries. Every memorial must be created, installed, and maintained through private contributions.

This monument ensures that future generations understand the profound moment symbolized by the folded flag—the life lived between the dash of a veteran’s birth date and date of passing, and the sacrifice that life represents.

Project Costs

The sculpting, bronze casting, engineering, and installation for the monument are estimated at $250,000, according to quotes already secured by JVSC.

Every dollar donated brings this monument closer to reality.

About JVSC

The Joint Veterans Support Committee (JVSC) is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. No member receives a salary—100% of funds raised support our monuments and veteran tributes.

Note about GoFundMe fees:

GoFundMe automatically applies a 2.9% + $0.30 payment-processing fee to each donation. This is not something we can change—it covers credit card processing and is standard across the platform.

GoFundMe will also show donors a suggested “tip.” This tip is completely optional. If you prefer not to leave one, simply select “Other” in the tip box and enter $0.
