Honor Vance Ricks: Memorial Tree & Football Camp Fund
Donation protected
To know Vance Ricks was to love him. He wasn’t just an outstanding student; he was an incredible friend, brother, and chosen family member to many, myself included. In November 2024, Vance was taken from us senselessly too soon. Vance was fiercely loyal, selfless, and thoughtful—he was both naturally bright and brave, gentle yet strong. His smile had the ability to brighten anyone's day and his positive energy was both calming and contagious. This loss has left many of us heartbroken as we grieve the light Vance brought to our lives. While it is difficult to move forward without him, I want to do so by continuing to honor and share his memory. This fund was created to keep his legacy alive.
A portion of the funds raised will be used to plant a memorial tree at Crown Hill Cemetery in Vance’s honor, with a plaque bearing his name to be installed by the tree. This will provide a place for all who knew and loved Vance to visit and pay tribute to him for years to come.
The remaining donations will establish the Vance Ricks Memorial Fund, which will annually sponsor a student-athlete at Crispus Attucks High School (Vance’s alma mater) to attend a football showcase camp. The goal is to provide an opportunity for a student who might not otherwise have access to such an experience. Vance was a captain on his high school team, a natural leader and a passionate player. We know that he would love to uplift others who share his love for the game, and this fund will do so in his name.
I am deeply grateful for your love and support. If you are unable to contribute at this time, I encourage you to honor Vance’s memory by living as he did: leading with positivity, staying curious, taking risks, doing hard things, never making excuses when times are tough, and always looking out for those you love.
Thank you for helping me keep Vance’s legacy alive.
