Ukrainian veterans don’t complain. They adapt, they push through, and they get where they need to go — even when the road is hard. With the support from the government and their families, volunteers, and friends, they mostly manage. But “managing” shouldn’t be the standard for the heroes who have carried the survival of Ukraine on their backs.

Veterans of Halychyna is a nonprofit founded by Ihor Davydov, a highly decorated veteran and a friend of 30-plus years. It is a brand-new organization dedicated to supporting veterans and especially wounded warriors and the families of the fallen.

While Veterans of Halychyna have many ongoing projects and future plans, their most urgent current goal is to purchase a transport van and convert it a fully accessible vehicle.

Overall, the NGO cares for 613 families of the wounded, fallen, POW, or MIA veterans.

Ivan Sh. was wounded in 2024 after two years of defending Ukraine in the most eastern areas. After this narrow escape, he visits a rehabilitation center twice a week. His family and his dog Sirko are of great support to his efforts to gradually regain mobility in his right arm and right leg. A fully accessible van would improve his life in a very practical way.

This van will make it easier, safer, and more dignified for veterans who use wheelchairs to get to medical care, community events, and essential services. It’s a way to honor their strength with real, practical, support.

The approximate cost of this project is $10,000.
