Honor the Life of Zoe Hyman

Zoe Hyman was a vibrant, creative, and deeply original young woman who embraced life on her own terms. A talented artist and free spirit, she expressed herself fearlessly through her artwork, her style, and her unique perspective on the world. Throughout her life, she touched countless people in the Charleston community with her authenticity, kindness, humor, and creativity.

Anyone who met Zoe remembers she had a way of making an impression that lasted long after a conversation ended. She lived boldly, loved fiercely, and remained true to herself in every way.

She was deeply loved by her parents, Phillip and Kay Hyman, and by the love of her life and fiancé, Edward Black. As an only child, Zoe was the center of her family’s world, and her loss leaves a void that can never be filled.

If Zoe ever shared her art with you, made you laugh, offered friendship when you needed it, or simply brightened your day by being herself, we ask that you consider making a donation in her memory.

During her final days, Zoe fought with the same strength and determination that defined her life. She battled devastating brain blood clots for a full week before ultimately succumbing to them. Throughout that fight, she was surrounded by the love of her family, friends, and all those who never stopped believing in her strength.

Born prematurely at 27 weeks on December 7, 2000, and weighing less than two pounds, Zoe spent her first three months fighting for her life in the hands of her parents and the dedicated team in the MUSC NNICU. Twenty-five years later, after a life filled with art, creativity, love, and determination, her family is seeking to honor her remarkable journey.

All of her loved ones are so proud that Zoe made the courageous decision to donate her organs. Knowing that her life will help others live fully, brings a small bit of peace to our profound grief.

We are asking for support to help her family with funeral, cremation, memorial, and related expenses. Every contribution, no matter the amount, is deeply appreciated.

Zoe’s story was extraordinary from the very beginning. Thank you for helping us honor and remember the life of a young woman whose very existence was a miracle and whose impact will be remembered forever.

If you are unable to donate, please share this page and keep Zoe’s family, Edward, and everyone who loved her in your thoughts and prayers.
