Honoring Terry "Teapot" Collins & Supporting His Family
With deep sadness and heavy hearts, we share that our father, Terry "Teapot" Collins, passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest while in the hospital.
Terry was a devoted husband—married for 50 years to his wife, Deborah—and a loving father to three sons: Josh, Travis, and James. His family is now facing unimaginable grief along with sudden, overwhelming financial decisions.
How Your Support Helps
His wife Deborah, their sons, and their beloved pets are trying to navigate life without Terry. They are facing urgent expenses to secure a new place to live, cover travel and moving costs, purchase food, and stay housed as they plan for the future. Without Terry, they face the very real fear of losing transportation, falling behind on rent, and struggling to keep food on the table.
A Legacy On and Off the Field
Terry was known to many as a proud member of the 1966 "Angry Orange" Central High School Bobcats state championship squad. He went on to play for Darrell K. Royal's legendary 1969–1970 Texas Longhorns National Championship football teams. That part of his story meant a great deal to the communities in San Angelo and Austin. His teammates, friends, and community remember the strength, heart, and loyalty he brought both on and off the field.
In James's Words
"Terry was the least selfish, toughest, kindest, and hardest working father I have ever known. He was a man who never complained and spent his life making sure other people were taken care of, often without stopping to think about himself.
More than a father, he became my buddy, and our bond grew into a deep friendship that I will carry with me always. He made life feel warmer, brighter, and happier no matter what was actually going on. That was the gift he offered to anyone who spent even a few minutes in his presence."
How You Can Help
We are asking friends, family, former teammates, and all who were touched by Terry’s life to come together now for Deborah and the family.
Please help honor Terry’s legacy by donating or sharing this fundraiser. Your support will allow the Collins family to grieve, make these difficult transition decisions, and carry on with dignity during this incredibly hard time.
Thank you for your love, prayers, and generosity.
