Honor Steve Daugherty's Journey and Legacy

Our story begins with our beloved Papa Bear. You may better know him as Steve Daugherty. He has been on quite the journey these past few months and has been battling liver cancer since September. In recent times, his kidneys have begun to shut down. Only having one kidney as it is, he does not qualify as a candidate for dialysis, which in turn would not have been helpful anyway. He wouldn’t be able to do dialysis and receive chemo, which has led my family and me to make the obvious yet heartbreaking decision for him to enter hospice.

All he wanted to do was to come home, and we got him here! The first two days after being home, he had amazing days with the outpouring love and support from everyone that visited. He was really riding a high. Unfortunately, he has taken a turn for the worse, faster than we could have imagined. With his most recent hospice visit, the inevitable has come, and he is not expected to be with us before the weekend is over, much less will he miss his favorite holiday.

So we have started this fundraiser to help relieve some financial burden and help catch back up from previous expenses such as his chemo treatment, prescriptions, the family’s unpaid time from work to help with his transportation, and of course, to fulfill his wishes of wanting to be cremated.
