Hello, my name is Julius Sweeney, and I’m reaching out to you during a deeply challenging time. I am raising funds to relocate my brother Solomon Byrd’s ashes from a deserted cemetery to our grandmother’s final resting place. Our grandmother, Manuela Urueta Cortez, lovingly cared for Solomon while our mother worked, and it’s important for us to honor his memory by bringing him closer to family.

Solomon passed away on November 16, 2023, and unfortunately, the detective assigned to his case was unable to locate his next of kin. I believe more could have been done to find us. It breaks my heart that I cannot lay him to rest with our mother, who dedicated her life to serving our country.

The funds raised will cover the excavation and burial costs. While I will need to save for a headstone later, any contribution you can make will help me honor my brother’s memory and ensure he rests peacefully with family.
