I'm Shelly Johnson. My son, Sha-Rell Cooper, is 15 years old. He suddenly passed away on June 3, 2025, at 6:23 p.m. at MUSC Children's Hospital in Charleston, S.C. He had 6 seizures on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at McLeod Hospital in Florence, S.C., where he was admitted and placed on a ventilator. On Thursday, May 29, 2025, Sha-Rell came to, and he was taken off the ventilator, talking and trying to stand with assistance. I was so happy; I was so relieved. He was started on a new seizure medication on Thursday night. Then, on Friday, May 30, 2025, Sha-Rell was still alert; he was watching TV. I went to get something to eat. When I came back to the hospital, they informed me my son's heart stopped. He had code blued. Then he was intubated and transferred to MUSC Children's Hospital in Charleston, S.C. I was confused; I was distraught. When we arrived at MUSC Children's Hospital in Charleston, S.C., the hospital informed me Sha-Rell had severe brain damage and brain trauma due to the cardiac arrest he suffered. He was put on a ventilator. His brain continued to swell. They had to do two brain tests to see if he had any brain activity; he failed both tests. So sadly, during the second test, my son's heart stopped. Sha-Rell was an honor roll student, so full of life, so respectable, well-mannered, always kept a smile on his face, loved helping others in need, loved to feed the homeless, and HE LOVED THE LORD!! Sha-Rell loved to pray for people. HE LOVED HIS FAMILY. He wanted to be a cop since he was 6 years old. He just wanted to help people. Sha-Rell was very, very sweet; everyone loved him. Due to this life tragedy, I'm in need of help with donations for sharell body to get transported from south Carolina to NJ so I can bring him home cause I know this is what he would've have wanted. And also for funeral and burial services. I deeply appreciate all the help
