In Loving Memory of Sammy Trujillo Jr.
A Fisherman, A Provider, A Protector, Our Popo
Born on March 1, 1957 taken home June 10, 2025
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved grandfather, Sammy Trujillo Jr.—known to us as Popo. He was a man of incredible strength, quiet wisdom, and endless love. A fisherman, a hunter, and a master in the kitchen, Popo lived his life providing for those he loved, always with open arms and a full table.
Popo found joy in catching, cooking, and hosting for his family. His home was always filled with the smells of good food and the sounds of laughter. He poured love into every meal and every moment he shared with us.
He was a proud and devoted father to Samantha, Sammy, Raquel, Angela, Michelle, and his baby boy Adrian. There was truly nothing he wouldn’t do for them. He adored his grandchildren and their children just the same—each of us knew what it felt like to be protected, cherished, and guided by him.
But above all, the deepest part of Popo’s heart belonged to his wife, our Grandma Sylvia. His love for her was beautiful unconditional and unmatched. Even in his final days, as he bravely fought a rapid and aggressive battle with cancer, all he worried about was making sure she would be okay. He made us promise—no matter what—to take care of her.
In just three months, cancer took him from us. From his lungs to his colon, and through his spine, it spread faster than we could have imagined. We weren’t ready. None of us could have been.
And that brings us here. We have created this GoFundMe in honor of Sammy Trujillo Jr.—a man who gave his all to his family. As his granddaughter, I made him a promise, and I intend to keep it. Every donation will go directly toward easing the financial burden on Grandma Sylvia and helping our family give Popo the farewell he deserves.
Whether you can donate or simply share this page, we are deeply grateful for your support during this time. Thank you for helping us honor the life and legacy of our Popo.
With love and gratitude,
Our Beloved Family.
