In Loving Memory of Roy Kilkeary
Beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Teacher, and Friend

In early 2024, Roy Kilkeary received a diagnosis that no one is ever prepared for - Stage 4 Glioblastoma. It was a moment that shook his world and ours. But true to who he was, Roy met the challenge head-on. With unwavering courage, relentless determination, and the same fire that made him unforgettable in life, Roy stared down the unthinkable. If ever there were someone who could defy the odds, who could be the miracle, it was Roy.

Surrounded by the fierce love of his family and friends, Roy waged his battle with everything he had. And he had a lot—heart, grit, humor, and a zest for life that lit up every room he walked into.

Roy was so many things to so many people. He was a devoted father to his fierce AJ—a boy who carries his spirit and spark. He was an extraordinary husband to his beautiful, loving wife Johanna, his partner in every sense. He was a proud and loving son, a loyal brother, and a teacher who inspired generations of students with his passion for literature and life.

Roy lived boldly. He skied down mountains, swam in open waters, biked wherever his spirit took him, and roamed the world with a curiosity and joy that made life feel like an adventure just by being near him. He loved great food, great company, and anything that made the heart race. Roy made you want to live—really live. He reminded us to be brave, to laugh loud, to go for it.

To know Roy was to love Roy. He brought the fun, the energy, the fire. He made life richer just by being in it.

Now, Roy is at peace, reunited in heaven with his beloved mother. Though his absence leaves a hole we can never fill, his life leaves a legacy we’ll never forget.

Let us carry Roy’s light forward. Let us love harder, laugh louder, and chase adventure with the kind of passion he brought to every single day.

Roy, we miss you deeply. Thank you for everything you gave us. You fought like hell, and you lived like a legend.

Rest easy, our dear friend. We’ll see you on the next great adventure.
