My name is Alaina, and my family and I are devastated by the sudden loss of my cousin, Robert, who tragically took his own life on Friday at just 35 years old.

Robert was so much more than his struggles. He was a son, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, a grandson, and a friend to everyone he met. He had a gift for making people laugh… Whether it was a silly face or a contagious belly laugh, he could light up any room. Robert loved working on cars and was incredibly talented at it. He had a special love for animals, especially his beloved dog, Meatball, who is now in Heaven with him.

Robert battled mental health issues for much of his life and ultimately, he felt there was no other way out. Our family takes comfort in knowing he is finally at peace, but our hearts are broken.

Because Robert was living in South Carolina, the cost of transporting him back home to New York for his funeral is unexpectedly high. These costs have added to the pain and stress our family is feeling as we grieve.

We are asking for help to cover these expenses so we can get Robert home and give him the funeral he deserves surrounded by the people who loved him most. Any amount, no matter how small, will help ease the financial burden on his parents and sister during this unimaginable time.
