Never thought I would be making another one of these, but here we are!

Most of you know who I am, but for those of you who don't, I am Meghann Medeiros, the eldest daughter of Lori. Robert Becker was my stepdad.

On Thursday, May 1st, 2025, we said goodbye to our hero, Robert Becker. Our father, husband, son, brother, and friend.

Many of you already know Robert's struggle with his heart and heart failure. Robert battled so hard and made it so far after his long stay of 162 days down at CPMC the first time back in 2023. This last time he went, we were not able to bring him home, as his heart just was no longer strong enough for the amount of love Robert had.

The sudden loss of Robert has left our family broken, angry, and just heartbroken to say the least. On top of the grief and loss, comes the financial burden of burying your loved ones. As we know, this is a rather expensive, unexpected cost. Unfortunately, Robert and my mother were unable to insure him for life insurance due to his pre-existing conditions, no death benefits, or retirement to cash out to pay for the cost of the burial and services. Any savings they had already went to several more nights' stays in hotels near CPMC in San Francisco, as you can imagine, were not cheap for weeks at a time. My mom is a full-time RN, but has used up all PTO she had available to be home with Robert when needed, and as this was very unexpected at this time and with little help, she is struggling. A lot of people have been reaching out asking how they can help, or where to donate, so I felt this is the best way to help support Robert and his family. Robert deserves the best send-off, as he was such an amazing, caring man. The love he had for his family, friends, and anyone he knew was too great for this life, and so he deserves to have that reciprocated.
