Honor Roan with a Memorial Bench in Prospect Park
Donation protected
Thank you to everyone who donated so generously to Roan’s memorial bench in Prospect Park. The response was truly incredible. Please accept our sincere gratitude for helping make this memorial to Roan a reality.
As we have met our fundraising goal, we have stopped accepting donations. If you did not get a chance to donate before we hit the goal, please consider giving to one of these organizations that meant so much to Roan:
YMCA Camp Abnaki
Cutchogue Library

As many of you know, some parents of Roan’s friends at the University of Wisconsin organized a fundraiser for a memorial bench for him in Madison. If you donated to that effort, thank you so much for your generosity–and please do not feel obligated to donate again here.
This fundraiser continues the effort in Roan’s hometown–Brooklyn–to raise funds for a memorial bench in his honor in Prospect Park.
Many of you know how much the park meant to Roan, whether playing baseball for the 78th Precinct, playing flag football for the SFX Giants, riding his bike, or hanging out with his friends. We want to commemorate him with a personalized bench overlooking the park and fields that he loved so deeply. The bench will be a place for his family and friends to visit and take a moment to reflect and remember Roan. It will feature a plaque with Roan’s own words from his college admissions essay that he wrote about Prospect Park.
This fundraiser is organized by Susan Shamoto, a friend of Roan and his family. I will receive the funds from GoFundMe and pay for the costs related to the bench.
