Help Us Honor Our Dad, Oscar

Hi, we’re Oscar’s children, and we’re writing this together to share our dad’s story and ask for your support during the most difficult time of our lives.

Our dad, Oscar, is 52 years old. He’s a father of four, and he means the world to us. He has always been the kind of person who lights up a room — joking, laughing, watching sports, and spending time with friends and family. More than anything, he loves connecting with people.

His Health Journey

On June 25, 2024, our lives changed forever. That morning we found our dad unconscious at home. He had suffered a severe stroke and was rushed into emergency surgery. The doctors could only remove part of the blood clot, and they warned us that recovery would be long and difficult.

Since then, our dad has faced one battle after another being non verbal, feeding tube, catheter, blind and paralyzed on the right side of his body, he spend weeks in the ICU, dialysis, multiple hospitalizations, therapy, and seizures.

Along the way, he was also diagnosed with heart failure and kidney disease. Despite it all, he has shown incredible strength, and we have cherished every smile, every word, and every small step of progress.

For more than a year, he has needed 24-hour care. Our grandmother, at 73 years old, has been by his side caring for him with unconditional love, but it has been overwhelming and difficult. In recent months, his health has declined further.

Preparing for His Departure

We never imagined having to write these words, but we are now facing the reality of preparing for our dad’s departure. His health continues to worsen, and doctors have told us to be prepared.

Just last night 9-3-2025, our dad went into cardiac arrest. He is currently on life support. After reviewing his condition, the doctors have recommended hospice care, as his health continues to decline. They explained that continuing aggressive treatments would only cause him more pain and suffering.
