Honor Officer Charles Stark's Legacy by Aiding His Wife Kris

Please Help Support Kris Stark After the Loss of Her Husband, Retired Officer Charles Stark

Our hearts are heavy as we share the passing of Charles Stark, a man who dedicated his life to service, family, and kindness. Charlie was a proud Air Force veteran, having served during Vietnam wartime and leaving the service afterward, and a St. Louis County Police Officer for an incredible 38 years. In all those years, he was the best negotiator you could ever hope to meet, using his wisdom, patience, and compassion to de-escalate situations and protect his community.

At 85 years old, Charlie had a full life, and we are incredibly grateful for the time we had with him. However, his loss has left a void that words cannot describe, especially for his beloved wife, Kris.

Kris and Charlie were together for 34 years, building a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. Now, for the first time in over three decades, Kris faces life alone—without Charlie and without an income. She is still a decade too young to receive any benefits, and her health struggles, including congestive heart failure and lupus, have left her mostly bed-bound. The weight of medical costs, rent, utilities, and basic necessities is something no grieving spouse should have to bear alone. As of his passing, there will be no funds coming into the household.

I want to make it known that this wasn’t a mis-management of finances. Kris spent a good part of the first 6 months of last year in the hospital, as well as Charlie’s medical expenses and hospital stays, and their medical debt is overwhelming and has depleted their savings. Yet still, that debt remains. Charlie lost his life insurance coverage when he retired, and he was at too advanced of an age to secure life insurance without it costing a fortune. Again, the money they had saved before all this medical debt would have taken care of all this.

We are rallying together as a family to help Kris through this unimaginable time, but we need the support of our friends, community, and anyone whose heart is moved to help. Our goal is to ease her immediate financial burdens—ensuring she has a roof over her head, insurance for her medical needs, food on her table, and a little peace of mind in the months ahead. Her most immediate goal is being able to cover Charlie’s funeral home expenses. We’re keeping them as simple as we can, with no actual funeral planned. We can’t do anything for Charlie until we pay for the funeral home services.
We aren’t asking for a lifetime of support—just a bit of help to get Kris through this painful transition. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference in her life. And if you are unable to give, we truly appreciate any prayers, shares, and words of encouragement.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us take care of Kris in Charlie’s honor. Your kindness means more than words can express. Charlie was never just a brother-in-law to me; he is my brother. I picked this picture of Charlie, because I am such a proud sister knowing my brother received a Purple Heart.

With so much love and gratitude,
Charlie’s Angels

Update: It is asking me to tell you how the funds will be used. The funds immediately will be used for the funeral home. I mistyped saying Charlie was a retired Vet. He is a Vet, having served during the Vietnam War and leaving when his time was up.
