Our Beloved Angel: Honoring the Life of Mtulazaji (P.E.A.C.E.) Davis

The world feels quieter now. A beautiful, brilliant light in our lives went out on the morning of October 24th, 2025, with the passing of Mtulazaji Davis—the legendary P.E.A.C.E. of Freestyle Fellowship.

To the world, he was an amazingly gifted emcee, a founding member whose rhythmic genius and innovative spirit helped shape the entire landscape of underground hip-hop. But to us, he was simply Dad. Not only a father, but also a son, a brother, an uncle, and a truly cherished friend.

His heart was massive, his spirit unforgettable. There wasn't a dull moment or a boring interaction with our father; his personality was electric, unforgettable, and touched everyone lucky enough to know him.

This loss is devastating, a pain that reaches down to our very souls. No words can explain our pain.

Our story wasn't perfect; our recent years didn't bring us as close as we wished. But distance cannot erase the truth: Our father was an angel who walked the earth. The hardest part is the aching absence, the realization that we won't have new memories to hold.

Now, we are clinging to the memories you share. So many friends have reached out, eager to share their stories and pictures of their time with him. Please know that these words and photos are our greatest comfort in this time. They are the beautiful pieces of a life we need to gather and hold.

We are humbly reaching out to the community he loved and inspired—the hip-hop family and beyond—to help us lay him to rest with the dignity and love he deserves.
