My name is Sarah Moore and I have had the absolute honor of knowing Missi White for close to 25 years. She has been an integral part of my chosen family and I can honestly say that my life would not be what it is today without her. Honestly, she has served many roles in my life, co-worker, confidant, childcare provider, evaluator, boss, but most important, my friend. Writing this for you might be one of the hardest things that I have had to do, but I hope that it can serve as a way for all of those who knew and loved Missi to give this last gift to her and to her family so that they are able to move forward knowing peace and security.
This past Friday, Missi suffered a massive stroke. She was quickly moved from Greenfield hospital to St. Vincent's Hospital where her closest Indianapolis friends, who are really considered family, were waiting to meet her so that she was not alone. The prognosis was grim from the start but along the way there were slight glimmers of hope. Some simple commands were followed, eyes were moving, blood pressure came down a little. We waited. Immediate family was contacted and urged to come. It took some time because they had to travel from Florida and St. Louis. The Indianapolis friends held down the fort. Missi was not alone, and we strongly believe that she knew that.
Unfortunately, that hope was short lived and throughout the weekend, things went downhill quickly. It became obvious that Missi would not survive this event, and even if by some chance she did, she would never be the Missi she had been. In fact, she would have zero quality of life. Everyone knows that Missi would not want this.
Missi had a broad reach in this world. She gave her friendship and her love to so many, and asked for little in return. When you talked with Missi you just knew that she was genuinely interested in what you were saying and she took the time to understand-she also was not shy about offering her opinion.
Now it is our chance to help. We would like to raise money to help with funeral expenses and to tie up loose ends such as covering the travel expenses for her immediate family to be here with her during this time, moving expenses, and other things that come up as we help her mother through this next part of the journey. We are really focused on making sure that her mother is secure because we know that Missi would want that more than anything. 100% of this money will go to Missi's immediate family for whatever it is that they need.
I will certainly keep you updated on progress towards the goal and any changes.
On behalf of Missi's family and friends,
We thank you so much.
