Almost anyone who knew our father, Milton Beaver, knew about his book. After his passing, we tried to think of a meaningful way people could honor that part of his legacy, if they so choose.
For over a decade, he worked on a whimsical children’s story called The Candlelight Conspiracy, about a young girl named Katie (wink wink) who refuses to grow older and accidentally tears a hole in the space-time continuum, connecting our world to a fantasy realm.
He talked about the book constantly, with friends, family, colleagues, the Smileverse, and even people he had just met. Long before it was finished, so many people were already waiting to read it.
Writing was one of Dad’s greatest passions. After years spent raising four children and building a life for his family, retirement finally gave him the time to fully devote himself to the story he had carried in his imagination for years. Before his passing, he completed the manuscript and worked closely with my sister on preparing the book for publication. The remaining step is completing the illustrations and final production process.
In lieu of flowers, we hope to honor Dad’s memory by helping bring The Candlelight Conspiracy into the world and finally sharing the story he spent so many years creating. Because so many people heard Dad talk passionately about his book over the years, we felt this might be a meaningful way for those who loved him to help bring that lifelong dream to completion and, in some small way, become part of the story themselves.
Feel free to share this with anyone who loved Dad or loves literature.
