Honor Milca by Supporting His Family

Amilcar, ‘Milca,’ ‘Milc’ Barros was taken away from us too soon: a good man, excellent father & husband, brother, son, and great friend and mentor to so many. While this loss is a shock to us all, it’s important that we keep his family at the front of our minds. There will be much to do in the days, weeks, and months ahead, and we will need to be there for Erica, Jaedyn, and Jaliyah. Nothing we can do will make this easier. Our job right now is to make sure that the one thing the family doesn’t have to worry about is money.

All of us who know and love Milca know that he was a dedicated man, always ready to support his family, friends, and friends of friends with whatever they needed. If you know Milca, you know he was always running quick missions to help someone. You can see the impact he made in your life. Sometimes it was moving your whole apartment, fixing something around your house, other times giving us his quiet, calm ear to listen to what we had in our mind. And you could always get that sneaky funny laugh when you never expected it but needed it most. We all learned much from him because he was always sharing with all of us. Freely.

I know his greatest mission was to make room for us–all the time. His week was filled with helping us all and then he enjoyed a good bit of kicking back with his people, recharging because there was always more to do.

We can’t fix this tragic loss but we can be there for Milca’s family right now in this small way. You already know Milca would have done it for you.

Let’s come together to remember our friend the right way: by taking care of the people he loved.

And I know all this talking would make him groan and just say “all right, you’re doing too much.” but we can’t do enough.

I will update this post when we learn the date of the funeral service.
