Growing up in Chicago, Mike built lifelong memories with his parents, “Big Mike” and Marge, his sister Marla, and the many friends he made at Mt. Carmel High School. Those early years shaped the loyal, generous man who would go on to be loved and respected by countless people throughout his life.

Mike spent decades in the offshore construction industry, a career that took him around the world and connected him with colleagues and friends from every background imaginable. He worked on countless projects and built relationships that lasted a lifetime. Wherever Mike went, people knew they could count on him.

When he eventually settled in Houston, life took its most meaningful turn. It was there he met Melissa, the love of his life. Together they built a family, and when their son, Michael Gregory, was born, he became the absolute center of Mike’s world.

Mike’s greatest joy was hosting and bringing people together. From backyard barbecues and pool parties to Chicago Bears watch parties, he was happiest surrounded by friends and family. He was the person everyone called when something broke, the neighbor who noticed when you needed a hand, and the most loyal friend you could ask for. Mike’s generosity knew no limits - he truly would give you the shirt off his back. In his final act of kindness, he donated his organs so that others could live - a selfless gift that perfectly reflects the way he lived his life.

Mike is survived by Melissa and four-year-old Michael, who was his pride and joy. He often shared stories of the future he dreamed of with them - trips they would take, lessons he wanted to teach his son, milestones he was looking forward to celebrating. Though his life was cut tragically short, those dreams remain, and we want to help ensure Melissa and Michael can still live them out.
