This fundraiser is intended to provide scholarship money for a young person in need, in Michael’s honor. Friends of Michael know what a great mentor and inspiration he was to so many of his 7th grade students over his years of teaching middle school. He took time to listen, understand, give guidance and respect, and even provide temporary shelter for kids in need. He remained in touch with many of them and had the benefit of seeing how he had impacted their lives, and they his. The young person chosen for the scholarship will be selected from among those who attend the district for whom Michael taught in Whidbey Island WA. The recipient will be a student who has successfully faced challenges and could use some additional financial support for their education. Donors will receive an update after the student is selected and has received their scholarship.
