Hello, this is the family of Mauricio Aponte.

We are heartbroken to share the tragic news that Mauricio passed away on July 22, 2025, while performing an act of ultimate bravery—saving a child from drowning. His heroic actions cost him his life, but they speak volumes about the kind of man Mauricio was: selfless, courageous, and full of love for others.

Mauricio was a beloved friend, coworker, son, husband, and—most importantly—a devoted father. He was the kind of person who could light up a room with his energy. He was always the first to offer help, to show up when someone needed a hand, and to lift others with his positive attitude and kind heart.

To us as a family, Mauricio was everything: a loving and present father who worked tirelessly to give our daughters a better future; a supportive husband who adored his wife; a proud son who made his family proud every single day.

We have created this GoFundMe to support funeral expenses, help our family during this devastating time, and provide for us as we begin to navigate life without him. Any contribution—no matter how big or small—will go directly to our family.

Hola, somos la familia de Mauricio Aponte.

Con el corazón roto, compartimos la trágica noticia de que Mauricio falleció el 22 de julio de 2025, mientras realizaba un acto de valentía suprema: salvar a un niño de ahogarse. Sus acciones heroicas le costaron la vida, pero dicen mucho sobre el tipo de persona que era: desinteresado, valiente y lleno de amor por los demás.

Mauricio fue un amigo querido, compañero de trabajo, hijo, esposo y—lo más importante—un padre devoto. Era el tipo de persona que podía iluminar cualquier lugar con su energía. Siempre era el primero en ofrecer ayuda, en estar presente cuando alguien lo necesitaba y en levantar el ánimo de los demás con su actitud positiva y su gran corazón.

Para nosotros, su familia, Mauricio lo era todo: un padre amoroso y presente que trabajaba incansablemente para darles un mejor futuro a nuestras hijas; un esposo solidario que adoraba a su esposa; un hijo orgulloso que llenaba de orgullo a su familia cada día.
