UPDATE:
A True Hero – Maureen’s Final Gift
Yesterday, Sunday, March 9th, Maureen became an organ donor, giving the ultimate gift of life to five individuals, ranging in age from just 5 years old to 50. Her heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver have now been transplanted, bringing hope and a second chance to families who had been praying for a miracle.
Maureen was always someone who gave selflessly, and even in her passing, she continues to change lives. She is a true hero, and her legacy will live on forever through the five people she saved.
Her kindness, her generosity, and her love will never be forgotten. Please continue to share her story, and if you feel moved, consider donating to help support her family during this difficult time.
With gratitude,
Dedi
"Hi, I'm Dedi Newkirk-Hill, Maureen’s best friend since grade school. It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of Maureen O’Shea, born February 2, 1971, who left us suddenly this week due to a massive stroke. Her unexpected passing has left us all absolutely devastated, and we will forever miss our beautiful friend.
Maureen was the kind of person who never met a stranger—she had a gift for making friends wherever she went. She had a deep love for animals, especially her three dogs, and was always the first to offer a helping hand.
Maureen grew up in Chandler, Arizona, after her family relocated from Ohio during grade school. She was incredibly proud of her Irish Catholic roots and had a strong connection to both places. She attended Knox Elementary, Chandler Junior High, and graduated from Chandler High, where she created lifelong friendships and cherished memories.
She is survived by her four children, Aimee, Cedric, Elijah, and Natalee, her two grandchildren, Noland and Anjolee, her father Bill, and her brother Sean and his son Dylan. The loss of her beloved mother, Pat, three years ago was incredibly difficult for Maureen, but she remained strong, devoted, and deeply connected to her family.
Despite facing financial struggles in recent years due to serious health issues and multiple surgeries, Maureen always put her family first. Tragically, she passed without life insurance, leaving her family to navigate both their immense grief and the financial burdens of medical bills, funeral costs, and settling her affairs.
This GoFundMe is a way to honor Maureen’s memory and help ease the burden on her family. Funds will go toward covering funeral and medical expenses, supporting her children through this transition, and creating a college fund for her grandchildren.
If you knew Maureen, you know she lived life with an open heart, and now we have an opportunity to give back in her honor. Any contribution, no matter the size, means the world. We also invite you to share your favorite memories of Maureen to keep her spirit alive and help spread this fundraiser to those who loved her.
With gratitude,
Dedi"
