My name is Rev. Jen Bailey, writing on behalf of my dear friend, Gail Hicka. Her only son, Matthew "Matty" Gonzalez died suddenly Sunday, October 19th, 2025. His family and friends are in shock and devastated. There are no words to describe this loss. He was only 30 years old. Matty had a big heart and wanted to be a Marine since the age of 6. He finally realized that dream in 2014

and enlisted in the Marine Corps. He wanted to serve his country and did so with distinction. Matty loved his fellow brothers and his friends and would do anything for them. We are so thankful for Matty's service and to the Marine Corps, because they will cover his burial costs. He can be buried in a military cemetery with honors befitting a Marine.

However, the funeral services are still in the planning and his mother Gail simply does not have enough funds to cover this expense.
