Honor Maria's Memory: Support Her Family

Please Read for My Mom's Story:

Anyone who knew my mom, Maria or as most of us lovingly called her, Cande, knows she had a light about her that could brighten any room. She had this warm, radiant energy that made people feel safe, seen, and loved. There was never a time she wouldn’t smile ear to ear. Whether it was through her laughter, her cooking, or just her presence, she had a way of making life feel just a little bit easier. She was an amazing sister, mother, and daughter. Unfortunately her light was taken from her too soon. On July 6th, 2025, our world changed forever. Our mother was taken from us due to domestic violence — a tragedy that has left an unfillable space in our hearts. We want to not only honor her memory, but also bring awareness to the heartbreaking reality of abuse that so many silently endure. No one should ever suffer in silence, and we hope that sharing her story brings strength to others who may be struggling. Maria was never one to ask for help. She believed in taking care of others before herself, so only donate if you would like to, you do not have to by all means. But for those who feel moved to help, we are raising $20,000 to help cover the costs of her coffin, church service, and funeral ceremony. A final goodbye that reflects the beauty and love she gave so freely while she was here. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us get closer to giving her the goodbye she deserves. All funds raised will go directly toward her funeral expenses. Any remaining funds will be donated to a domestic violence charity. I hope her story may help others find safety, healing, and optimism. Cualquier persona que conocía a mi madre, María o como la mayoría de nosotros la llamábamos cariñosamente, Cande, sabe que tenía una luz sobre ella que podía iluminar cualquier cuarto. Tenía esta energía cálida y radiante que hacía que la gente se sintiera segura, vista y amada. Nunca hubo un momento en el que no sonreía de oreja a oreja. Ya fuera a través de su risa, su comida o simplemente su presencia, tenía una manera de hacer que la vida se sintiera un poco más fácil. Era una hermana, madre e hija increíble. Desafortunadamente, su luz fue quitada demasiado pronto. El 6 de julio de 2025, nuestro mundo cambió para siempre. La vida de nuestra madre fue arrebatada debido a la violencia doméstica, una tragedia que ha dejado un espacio vacío en nuestros corazones. No solo queremos honrar su memoria, sino también para que la gente tenga conciencia sobre la triste realidad del abuso que tantos soportan sin decir nada. Nadie debería sufrir en silencio, y esperamos que por parte de su historia traiga fuerza a otros que están luchando. María nunca fue de las que pidieron ayuda.
