In the early morning of May 31st our beloved Marcus Carranza was unexpectedly called home. Born April 23, 2006 this beautiful young boy arrived with a determination to make things clear, that he was an unstoppable force. Being diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) at a young age meant very little to Marcus, his love for family and life overpowered any negativity that crossed his path. In the eyes of all he proved what it means to be a brave and fearless warrior.

Although this health disorder impacted Marcus's physical abilities, he did not allow it to affect his quality of life. He remained vibrant, joyful, hopeful and above all, loving to all those around him. He enjoyed playing board games, online video games with friends and siblings, listening to reggae music and most of all spending quality family time with good food of course! Being the youngest of three made little impact on his throne as he made sure everyone knew he held the power, which nobody challenged because he made it easy to cater to his humorous personality and demands. After all, seeing him smile was a gift of its own.

Marcus was part of The Rose City Renegades, an Oregon power soccer team in which he traveled to play competitively and was devoted to giving his all to his team. An easy MVP contender, Marcus lit up any room he entered and would win your heart over at hello. He was loved by many and meant so much to our family. His passing is truly heartbreaking.

Throughout Marcus's life his mother Corinne and sister Vanessa have tirelessly provided the loving care that he and his brother Alex (who also lives with DMD) have needed. This brave family now faces the most challenging part of caring for a loved one as they arrange Marcus's final wish.
