Honoring my sister’s memory

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Sheila Brown and I’m raising funds for my sister’s funeral and burial after her unexpected death.

Please consider helping me bury my sister?

My beloved sister, Norma Lynn Moore was a fighter. Lynn, as we call her, passed away on April 18, 2025, after a very long and courageous 18-year battle with end-stage renal disease. She spent those years undergoing frequent hospitalizations and going to dialysis three days a week. Sometimes more!

Lynn grew up legally deaf in a hearing world. Meaning she wasn’t allotted the same services that are afforded the rest of the deaf community. She had to learn to live in a hearing world, without any schooling in sign language or any other assistance that is normally given to deaf persons. She went to schools for the hearing community and struggled greatly. Because she struggled so much with communication, she buried herself in books.

Lynn had a brilliant mind and could do anything she set her mind to. She had to! Ultimately, Lynn received her  Masters degree in  Anthropology. She was finalizing plans to go to Africa on her first dig. In preparation for this, she went for a physical and found out she was in end-stage renal disease and needed to begin dialysis immediately. While heartbroken, she wasn’t about to give up!  She went from dreaming of learning about the world and our fellow man to dreaming of living another 30 years. She didn’t realize either dream.

Lynn was not only a sister. She was  a mother, a grandmother and a friend.  She was fun loving and her heart was full of love for her family and friends, her fellow man, animals and protecting the earth as much as she could.  Though Lynn’s circle was small, she had unbelievable strength and fierce devotion to the people who were in it.

Lynn’s final and most heartfelt wish was to be laid to rest with her infant son, Jonathan Joseph, who passed away shortly after birth. She never stopped grieving for him and never stopped loving him.

To fulfill Lynn’s final wish, her son’s remains will need to be exhumed and moved a short distance (he is buried in the children’s section of the cemetery) to a new burial plot, where they can finally rest together.

Unfortunately, this process is  expensive. I am only asking for the amount needed to do this. Nothing extra. It costs approximately $6000. Initially,  Lynn did have life insurance, but she didn’t realize that it had canceled while she was hospitalized for the last time.

Because I don’t have the funds to do this on my own, I now need to raise funds to purchase her a burial plot and cover funeral costs. I  thank you in advance for your support.

Lynn deserved dignity and peace in her passing, as she gave so much of herself in life. I’m asking for your help to give her that—by helping me honor her wish to be with her son and lay them to rest together.

Thank you for your kindness, your support and your prayers. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us bring them home, together, where they belong.
