Honor Luis: Help Carry the Weight

10/22/1993 - 11/01/2024
May his story live on to guide others with similar pains towards a healthier and happier life.
Luis suffered from progressively worsening front, right-sided headaches that were even worse when he laid down. For my fellow medical providers, this is a sign of high pressure in the brain, which should be evaluated with brain scans. Despite our mother insisting for him to go to the ER or to see a doctor, he refused because he didn't have health insurance and didn't want his family to pay for his big hospital bill.
The headache became so unbearable that he didn't sleep at all for 2 weeks strait, still going to work, smiling through the pain for his family and friends. He was excited to get married in December, go back to school to study engineering, and spend time with family for the holidays.
November 1st, 2024, was the day he no longer felt pain and was finally able to rest.
If I had known about his pain, I would've done everything in my power to get him the treatment he needed.
Let his story live on so we can learn to lean on each other for help, prioritize our physical/mental health, and fight for affordable healthcare.
For those who knew Luis, know that he was strong.
He didn't want to feel like a burden to others so much so that he carried the weight on his shoulders until his last breath. May all his family, friends, and loved ones come together to help carry the weight in his honor.
$1 per person.
Thank you for your donation to cover the cost of his funeral service.
