Leo was a beautiful soul taken from the world far too soon. A trans man who had found happiness in his identity, Leo's kind and positive spirit touched everyone who had the good fortune to be around him. He had found his soulmate in Kerry, and their wedding day held the promise of a long life full of love and companionship.
Unfortunately, just nine months after their wedding, Leo was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Leo and Kerry spent the following nine months living to the fullest extent possible and, while they both held onto the hope that Leo would recover, he sadly died on March 9, 2023.
Benches were a recurring motif in Kerry and Leo's relationship. They had their first date on a bench, as well as their first kiss. They got engaged on a bench, and at their wedding they had guests sign a bench they had made together. That bench now sits in front of Kerry's house, one of many reminders of the overwhelming love the two shared.
On what would be their third anniversary, Kerry is raising money to commission a hand-made bench to donate to the Burlington Sculpture Park, the town where they lived and where they co-founded the annual Pride celebration. Any money raised in excess of what is needed to create the bench will be used to provide Leo's Legacy scholarships to LGBTQ+ youth in Burlington.
Thank you so much for your support in memorializing this amazing man.
