Help Us Honor Layla’s Memory and Cover Her Final Medical Costs

I’m Pamela. Our beloved dog Layla passed away peacefully on June 6th, 2025, at the age of 15½. She was more than a pet — she was our family, our comfort, our little shadow. She brought us joy every single day of her life, and we are absolutely heartbroken by her loss.

This fundraiser is to help cover the extensive medical expenses we incurred during Layla’s final months and to give her the tribute she deserves. Any support, whether financial or emotional, means the world to us.

Layla’s Medical Journey

In late 2024, Layla began experiencing seizures, confusion, and difficulty walking. After numerous veterinary visits and tests, she was diagnosed with a probable brain tumor. While it was inoperable, we were determined to give her the best quality of life for as long as possible.

She was placed on a carefully managed regimen of medications, including:

• Keppra (500 mg XR) twice daily for seizure control

• Prednisone (2.5 mg twice daily) to reduce inflammation and improve her mobility

• Gabapentin for pain relief as needed

• Amlodipine (2.5 mg) for high blood pressure

• Clopidogrel to help with her persistently elevated platelet count

• Cerenia and Entyce to help her stomach and appetite on difficult days

Despite the medications, the vet bills added up — including regular bloodwork, ER visits during seizure episodes, follow-ups, and hospice consultations. Layla also needed special food, supplements, and incontinence supplies during her final weeks.

In her final days, Layla’s breathing became more labored, and she was hospitalized for 24 hours and struggling to stay comfortable. We made the heartbreaking decision three weeks later to let her go peacefully, surrounded by love.

We are planning to honor Layla with a small memorial and keepsakes that help preserve her memory — including a custom placard, paw print, and tribute art. We would also love to support rescue groups in her name that help senior dogs like her.
