Sewell – Tammy Joiner Act Petition Drive
My name is Taneika Tigner. I am a mother fighting for justice for my daughter, Kiara Sewell, who was
brutally murdered — a tragic victim of violence against women. Her life was stolen in a way no family
should ever have to endure. And I refuse to let her story end in silence.
In her honor — and in honor of Tammy Joiner, another life lost to systemic failure — I am working to
pass the Kiara Sewell – Tammy Joiner Act, a legislative initiative demanding:
- Responsible re-sentencing reform - Mandatory sentence review panels - Required consideration of
prior violent offenses - Victim family input before early release - Public tracking and monitoring - And a
full investigation into the consequences of reckless early releases
We’re now entering the next critical phase: collecting thousands of physical petition signatures to take
this Act to the lawmakers and demand change.
But this work takes resources. I am asking for your support to help fund:
- Quality petition paper and printing supplies - Flyers, posters, and outreach materials - Transportation
and tabling costs - Petition kits for volunteers and community events
Why This Matters
This is more than a cause — it’s a calling. It’s about protecting lives. It’s about making sure victims’
families have a voice. And it’s about stopping a system from releasing dangerous individuals into our
communities without accountability or support structures.
